CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The Migos rapper Takeoff was recently shot and killed. He was a close relative of Quavo, and his death has shocked the hip-hop world. Although he had yet to release his first album, Takeoff has carved out a name for himself in the music business.

  • Police are looking into whether or not a shooter targeted Takeoff. The rapper was killed at the 810 Billiards & Bowling club in downtown Houston, a downtown complex near the Four Seasons hotel.
  • Takeoff was a member of the rap group Migos and a vocal technician. The singer had a distinctive sing-song flow that shaped the rap sound of Atlanta. The rapper was 28 years old when he was killed.
  • The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. local time in Houston. The rapper was with his bandmate Quavo when he was shot. Two other people were injured, but they were not considered life-threatening.

According to reports, police are looking into the shooting. At least 40 people were at the party when rapper Takeoff was killed. Police are asking for witnesses to come forward.

The rapper’s brother Quavo was not injured. Several shell casings were found at the venue, which was on the third floor.

The shooting took place outside the third floor bar at the club. There were security guards in the area at the time of the shooting, but they were not able to see the shooter. The victim was shot in the head or neck, police said. The shooter fled when the police arrived.

Takeoff, a member of the hip-hop group Migos, was born in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He began performing in 2008 with his cousin, Offset, and uncle Quavo. They initially performed as Polo Club, but the group changed their name to Migos in 2011.

In 2013, they released their debut album, titled “Versace.” Their biggest hits include “Bad and Boujee” and “Straightenin,” remixed by Drake.

Takeoff’s death has devastated the hip-hop community. He was the first rapper to utilize the triplet delivery style in hip-hop, and it slowly trickled into the pop world.

The rapper and his bandmates released an independent mixtape called Migos in 2011, and his track “Bando” boosted local buzz. They later became famous after releasing the single “Versace” as a single.
