Burna Boy’s highly-anticipated concert at Johannesburg’s FNB Stadium, scheduled for September 23, has been postponed until December 16, citing sound issues.

NAIROBI, KENYA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The highly anticipated Burna Boy concert at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, South Africa, originally scheduled for September 23, has faced a setback, resulting in its postponement to December 16, as reported by Sunday World.

Sound Issues Prompt Postponement

The postponement, attributed to sound issues, was caused by a sudden change in the sound team. Burna Boy made the decision to dismiss the South Africa-based sound team on Monday night, compelling the event planners to hastily engage an alternative company lacking the necessary sound capacity for the show.

“They had a problem with the company that offers them sound,” shared a source from the planning team. “Burna Boy fired them on Monday night and they had to replace them with another company which does not have the required capacity to do the show.”

Attendance Challenges and Ticket Discounts

Additionally, the event encountered challenges in ticket sales, prompting a 25% discount on suite tickets across several online platforms, indicating potential attendance hurdles.

Khanya PR and Media Solutions Withdraws Support

In a surprising development, Khanya PR and Media Solutions announced their withdrawal from supporting the event, citing business interests and legal advice as the basis for their decision.

“We have, as an agency, elected to withdraw our services which have up to now included PR and social media management,” their statement read.

“We have, following consideration of our business interests and working through the necessary legal advice, come to the conclusion that it is in the best interest of all parties concerned that we cease our role in the event. We wish the organisers well in their efforts and journey towards the concert and their future projects.”

Context of the Concert and Burna Boy’s Tour

Originally a significant part of Burna Boy’s Africa tour, supporting his recent album “I Told Them,” this concert was a highly anticipated event. It marked the Grammy-winner’s return to South Africa after headlining the DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival last year.

Burna Boy’s recent years have been marked by an extensive tour itinerary, featuring headline stadium shows. In June, he achieved a remarkable feat by selling out the 60,000-capacity London Stadium in the UK.
