Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — In a tragic incident, Ndiga Clan leader Daniel Bbosa Lwomwa was fatally shot by unknown assailants on Sunday. The attack took place near his home in Lungujja parish, Lubaga Division, Kampala, while he was driving in his car with registration number UAH 637X.

The news was confirmed by Senior Superintendent of Police Patrick Onyango, the spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police. Pictures shared on social media revealed the aftermath of the attack, showing Bbosa’s vehicle at the crime scene.

Following the shooting, a local mob pursued and apprehended the two assailants. In a spontaneous act, the mob took matters into their own hands, resulting in the death of both attackers. The police later recovered the firearm and motorcycle used by the assailants.

Law enforcement from Old and Katwe policing divisions responded to the incident, but unfortunately, they arrived too late to prevent the mob’s actions.

The motive behind Bbosa’s shooting remains unknown at this time. This tragic event follows closely on the heels of the recently released 2023 crime report by the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), which highlighted 300 deaths attributed to rifle-related incidents. In 22 of these cases, a single gun was used. The Kampala metropolitan South region, encompassing areas like Lungujja, recorded the highest number of shooting-related murders in the city and its outskirts. The circumstances surrounding Bbosa’s death add to the concerning trend of firearm-related violence in the region.
