Los Angeles police said on Twitter that the victim had suffered a “minor injury” and those responsible for it fled the scene. Mayers’ lawyer, Alan Jackson, confirmed that he had been arrested, but declined to comment further.

His first appearance in court will take place on Wednesday, 17 August. The rapper was previously sentenced to a two-year suspended prison term for his role in a brawl in Stockholm this summer.

Two members of the rapper’s entourage were convicted of beating and kicking a 19-year-old man. The entourage claimed they were defending themselves, but the court rejected this claim.

After then-US president Donald Trump unsuccessfully sought to secure Mayer’s release while he awaited trial, the case received widespread media attention.

Earlier this year, Lifestyle Uganda reported that A$AP Rocky and Rihanna were expecting a child this year.
