Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — A Pass, the versatile singer, songwriter, and record producer, is gearing up for the release of his 3rd studio album on February 1st, 2024. Here’s what we know so far:

Bagonza Album

  • The album, titled ‘Bagonza,’ derives its name from A Pass’s birth name, Alexander Bagonza.
  • This marks his third album following ‘NVA KAMPALA’ (released on May 13, 2016) and ‘AFRICAN YAYO’ (released on April 27, 2018).
  • ‘NVA KAMPALA’ featured hits like “Mariana,” “Am Loving,” and “Turi Kubigere,” while ‘AFRICAN YAYO’ included tracks such as “Mummy” and “Didadada.”
  • Originally intended as an EP titled “Bedroom Terrorist,” the album underwent title changes before settling on ‘Bagonza.’
  • A Pass collaborated with producers HerbertSkillz, Nessim Pan Production, Sir Dan Magic, and Baru Beatz for the album’s production and mastering.
  • The album showcases a mix of RnB, Afro dancehall, and reggae, teased through various social media platforms.
  • Delays in the album’s release were due to the extensive selection process for tracks and meticulous mixing and mastering by Baru Beatz.
  • ‘Bagonza’ comprises 42 tracks, with A Pass collaborating with artists like Likkle Bangi, Alina Jah, Akeine, and Ceee.
  • Notable collaborators include Likkle Bangi, who previously worked with A Pass on the single “YOU GOTTA KNOW,” and newcomers Akeine and Alina Jah.
  • Hatimax Sebintu, A Pass’s long-term collaborator, is responsible for designing the album artwork, continuing the thematic storytelling seen in previous albums.
  • The artwork for ‘NVA KAMPALA’ depicted A Pass as “The Teacher,” while ‘AFRICAN YAYO’ featured symbols of struggle and African pride.
  • Despite expectations, Lilian Mbabazi does not feature on this album, leaving room for potential surprises or deluxe editions.
  • None of the tracks on ‘Bagonza’ have been previously released, promising a fresh listening experience for fans.
