Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Delegates from six sub-regions in eastern Uganda, representing the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), officially threw their support behind Patrick Amuriat as the party’s next president. These regions encompass Bugisu, Bukedi South, Bukedi North, Sebei, Busoga, and Kyoga.

The endorsement event, held at the Mountain Inn Hotel in Namakwekwe, Mbale City Northern City Division, aimed to provide a platform for Amuriat to convey his message. Emma Sebunyo, a delegate from Bulambuli district, highlighted that the race for the party presidency primarily involves Moses Byamugisha and Patrick Amuriat Oboi.

Sebunyo emphasized Amuriat’s effective leadership, particularly in uniting the party and resisting attempts by those aligned with Dr. Kiiza Besigye, the former FDC president, to undermine it. Delegates firmly believe Amuriat is the apt choice for the party’s presidential role.

Samuel Owuma, a delegate from Busia district, underscored the successful collaboration between Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the General Secretary, and Amuriat over the past five years, which significantly contributed to the party’s stability. Hence, there is a consensus among them to maintain the current party leadership.

Patrick Amuriat Oboi, seeking re-election, urged delegates to cast their votes for him on October 6th, 2023, during the delegate’s conference. He stressed the importance of collaborating with Nandala to ensure stability within the party amid the ongoing conflicts. Amuriat assured delegates and party supporters, urging them to remain composed.
