Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Mr. Henry K. Magumba Kyemba, aged 86, who passed away on October 19 due to diabetes-related complications at URO CARE Hospital in Kampala, will receive an official burial. He will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Bugembe town, Jinja District on October 26.
In accordance with Article 99 of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, as amended, which vests Executive authority in the President, President Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has directed that the Late Hon. Henry K. Magumba Kyemba be granted an Official Burial. An official funeral is granted by the president to individuals who have made significant contributions to the country, with the government covering all funeral expenses.
The tentative program for the burial includes a church service at Namirembe Cathedral in Kampala on Monday, October 23, at 10am, followed by a visit to his home in Port Bell, Luzira at 2pm. On Tuesday, his body will be at parliament from 10am to 1pm for parliamentarians to pay their respects before being taken to a funeral home in Ntinda.
A Joint Local Council Session will be held on Wednesday at the City Hall in Jinja at 10am, and his body will then be taken to his ancestral home in Bugembe at 3pm. On Thursday, a church service at Bugembe Cathedral will precede his final resting place at 4pm.
