Cotton Fest 2022 is set to host one of its most notable editions in its history. Over 130 local artists will pay tribute to the late South African rapper Riky Rick, who died on 23 February.
KAMPALA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Cotton Fest 2022 is preparing for one of its most noteworthy editions since its founding with over 130 local artists preparing to pay tribute to South African rapper Riky Rick, who passed away on 23 February.
- The third edition of Cotton Fest 2022 will take place on April 23 and 24 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
- The event was originally scheduled for the 19th and 20th of March but postponed due to the death of Riky Rick.
- Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, AKA, Boity, Big Zulu, 25K, Nadia Nakai, Emtee, Khuli Chana, among others, are all performing at Cotton Fest this year.
- On 1 April, Webtickets and Pick n Pay outlets will be selling tickets for the event.

Cotton Fest, a 3rd edition, will take place from 23 to 24 April at Newtown Station in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The event had been initially scheduled for 19 and 20 March, but was postponed after the death of Riky Rick.
Among the artists set to perform at Cotton Fest this year are Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, AKA, Boity, Big Zulu, 25K, Nadia Nakai, Emtee, and Khuli Chana.
“We have to continue to keep his spirit and legacy alive,” said Bianca Naidoo, Riky Rick’s wife.

“What better way to do this than to continue the work Riky has already started. Cotton Fest needs to go ahead as planned by him.
“His love and belief in showcasing young and upcoming talent is unquestionable, which is how Cotton Fest came about a few years back. And in his own words – we never die, we multiply! Let’s build on this energy, and continue to spread the love and light at a time when we need it the most.”
Starting on 1 April, tickets will be available through Webtickets and Pick n Pay outlets.

The Cotton Fest is an annual music festival founded by Riky Rick in 2018 to showcase different music genres and bridge the gap between various local movements.
The festival aims to merge well-known and young emerging South African artists.
