Tems, Kendrick Lamar and Drake Win Big at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards

Presented at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta on 30 September, the Hip Hop awards were exclusively carried on BET on 5 October. Kendrick Lamar won six awards.

Here is the full list of winners for the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, which were hosted by rapper Fat Joe.

ATLANTA, USA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Here is the full list of winners from yesterday’s 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards ceremony, which was hosted by rapper Fat Joe.

  • On 30 September, the Hip Hop Awards ceremony was taped at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center in Atlanta and aired exclusively on BET on the morning of 5 October. Kendrick Lamar received six awards.
  • In addition to winning Best Hip Hop Album of the Year, Kendrick Lamar also won Best Hip Hop Video for ‘Family Ties,’ Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Hip Hop Artist of the Year, Video Director of the Year. He beat out Doja Cat, Kanye West, Future, and Drake.
  • In the Best Collaboration category, Nigerian singer Tems was the only African winner at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.
  • She won for her appearance on Future’s song ‘Wait For U’, which also features Drake. The song was nominated for Song of the Year, but lost out to Latto’s ‘Big Energy’.
  • A medley honoring Loud Records, the label known for bringing Wu-Tang Clan, Dead Prez and Mobb Deep to prominence, was also part of the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards show.

This year’s Hip Hop awards were taped at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center on 30 September, and aired exclusively on BET on 5 October. Kendrick Lamar won six awards.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’ rapper Kendrick Lamar won Best Hip Hop Album and Best Hip Hop Video, along with Best Live Performer, Lyricist of the Year, Video Director of the Year, and Hip Hop Artist of the Year, beating the likes of Doja Cat, Kanye West and Future.

At the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, Drake was also one of the big winners of the night. As a result, he won three awards, including Best Collaboration and Best Featured Verse for both ‘Wait For You’ with Future and Tems and ‘Churchill Downs’ with Jack Harlow.

In addition to Best Impact Track, Lizzo won for ‘About Damn Time’. Kanye West did not win a BET Hip Hop Award despite receiving 10 nominations.

As far as Africa is concerned, Tems was the sole African winner of the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards in the category of Best Collaboration.

Tems won for her appearance on Future’s ‘Wait For U’ featuring Drake, which also competed for Song of the Year, but lost to Latto’s ‘Big Energy’.
