Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Uganda Airlines has officially announced its plans to launch operations in India, commencing from October 7. The airline is geared up to inaugurate a fresh direct service linking Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Uganda’s Entebbe International Airport.

Operating three times a week, this service will be facilitated by Uganda Airlines’ Airbus A330-800neo aircraft, offering passengers a choice between three classes: Business (20 seats), Premium Economy (28 seats), and Economy (210 seats). This direct air link marks the reestablishment of a non-stop route between India and Uganda after over fifty years.

In addition to reconnecting India and Uganda, this route expansion underscores Uganda Airlines’ dedication to broadening its service offerings beyond the African continent. This route will join the burgeoning network, providing travelers with seamless connections to South, West, Central, and Eastern Africa. Notably, the direct flight will significantly reduce travel time, with each leg lasting approximately 5.5 hours.

Adedayo Olawuyi, Chief Commercial Officer at Uganda Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about this new route, emphasizing its potential to enhance travel options for passengers and foster stronger business and commercial ties between India and Uganda.

Madhusudan Agrawal, Hon. Consul of Uganda, shared his excitement about the realization of a long-standing vision for a direct flight between Mumbai and Entebbe, highlighting the positive impact it could have on trade, commerce, and tourism between the two nations.
