2022 BET Hip Hop Awards Nominations: The Complete List

Taking place on October 4, 2022, the 17th installment of the BET Hip Hop Awards will be hosted by Fat Joe. The nominations were announced on September 12, 2022.

Drake takes home the top honor with 14 nominations at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, while Kanye West is second with 10 nominations and Kendrick Lamar follows closely behind with nine.

ATLANTA, UNITED STATES | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Drake, a Canadian rapper, singer, and actor takes home the most nominations at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards with 14, while Kanye West comes in second with 10 and Kendrick Lamar comes in third with nine.

  • BET Hip Hop Awards 2022 will be held on October 4, 2022, as the 17th installment of the annual award show. Nominations were announced on September 12, 2022, and Fat Joe is set to host the event. 
  • Rapper Drake, known for his hit ‘Certified Lover Boy’, is nominated for hip hop artist of the year, hustler of the year, lyricist of the year, best live performer, and hip hop album of the year at the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards.
  • “Family Ties” by Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem is nominated for best hip-hop video, best collaboration, and impact track, with Lamar also being nominated for “The Heart Part 5.”
  • Listed below are the nominees for the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, including Burna Boy, Tems, Teni, Black Sherif, Blxckie and Nadia Nakai.

At the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, Drake is nominated for hip hop artist of the year, hustler of the year, lyricist of the year, best live performer, and hip hop album of the year. He has also earned multiple nominations within each category.

He is nominated for best hip-hop video, best collaboration, and song of the year for his collaboration with Future and Young Thug, “Way 2 Sexy.” He is also nominated for his feature on Future’s “Wait for You” (singer Nigerian Tems is also featured on the song).

In the Sweet 16: best featured verse category, Drake has been nominated two times for his cameos on “Wait for You” and Jack Harlow’s “Churchill Downs,” while he has been nominated three times for his collaboration with 21 Savage on “Jimmy Cooks.”

Similarly to Drake, Kanye West has been nominated for the categories of hip hop artist of the year, hustler of the year, best live performance, hip hop album of the year, best hip hop video, best collaboration, best song, and best featured verse. Alicia Keys and Fivio Foreign are also nominated for producer of the year and impact track for “City of Gods.”

Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem’s “Family Ties” has been nominated for best hip hop video, best collaboration and best impact track, and Lamar has been nominated for “The Heart Part 5” as well. He and Dave Free are also up for video director of the year.

At the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, Future is the fourth most nominated artist with eight nominations, while Baby Keem, Cardi B, and J. Cole are tied with six nominations each.

Host of the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards will be Fat Joe

According to Fat Joe, he will be hosting the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards, and he said the following about the announcement:

“It’s truly an honor to host and produce the BET Hip Hop Awards, and I can’t thank Connie [Orlando] and the entire BET family enough for this opportunity. We’re going to celebrate music, culture, and entertainment, honor the biggest and brightest stars in the world and make this an unforgettable night full of laughs and surprises. Always remember that yesterday’s host is not today’s host.”

In total, 17 categories will be presented in the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards. The show will take place at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Centre on Friday, Sept. 30, before premiering on BET’s channel on Tuesday, Oct. 4, starting at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
