Jinja, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Alison Anna Gabula Nadiope has taken legal action against the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope, in the United Kingdom. She claims that she is still legally married to him. The Busoga Kingdom recently announced Jovia Mutesi as the Inebantu (Queen) to the Kyabazinga, with their wedding scheduled for November 18.
However, a letter from Mrs. Nadiope’s lawyers in the UK, Anne Cuthbert Solicitors Ltd, asserts that she married the Kyabazinga in December 2016 and they have two children together.
According to the letter, the Kyabazinga has not divorced her, and if he enters another marriage, he could be charged with bigamy under UK law. Busoga Kingdom spokesperson Andrew Ntange dismissed the letter, stating that the wedding preparations are proceeding smoothly.
Justine Kasule Lumumba, head of media and entertainment on the organizing committee of the Busoga royal wedding, denied receiving such communication and emphasized that the Kyabazinga will introduce the Queen on November 18.
Additionally, a Royal Dinner Bouquet is scheduled for October 27 at Kololo Independence Grounds in Kampala. This event aims to provide an opportunity for various organizations and individuals to be part of the royal celebrations.
