Burna Boy’s YouTube music video for ‘Last Last’, off the 19-track ‘Love Damini’ album, has surpassed 100 million views.

KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — On YouTube, Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’ music video from his 19-track album ‘Love Damini’ has surpassed 100 million views.

  • The song ‘Last Last’ has reached the milestone of 100 million views on YouTube five months after Burna Boy and his team released a video, directed by Burna Boy himself, for the song.
  • With a sample of Toni Braxton’s 2000 classic ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’, the track joins the Grammy-winning musician’s other hits, such as ‘Ye’ and ‘On the Low’, which have also accrued more than 100 million views.
  • ‘Last Last,’ co-written by Off & Out (brothers Mikael and Samuel Haataja), Chopstix, MdS, and Ruuben, was released on 13 May ahead of Love, Damini’s album.
  • A number of impressive milestones have been achieved since the release of ‘Last Last’, including appearances on the UK Singles Chart and Billboard Hot 100, among others. As well as gold certification in Canada, France, New Zealand and the UK, it has also been certified for sustainability.
  • Burna Boy has also launched a cannabis brand in the US, BrkFst, in collaboration with Jokes Up/Ice Kream. According to the Nigerian native’s hit song “Last Last,” the lyrics “Na everybody go chop breakfast” means that everyone will definitely experience heartbreak or pain.

Five months after Burna Boy’s ‘Last Last’ song was released on YouTube, the song has now reached 100 million views, which is an astonishing feat for such a new song. The video was personally directed by Burna Boy himself.

This song, which samples Toni Braxton’s 2000 classic ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’, adds to the Grammy-winning musician’s other hits, such as ‘Ye’ and ‘On the Low’, which have both been viewed over 100 million times.

Last Last is gold certified

‘Last Last’ was co-written by Off & Out (brothers Mikael and Samuel Haataja), Chopstix, MdS, and Ruuben, ahead of the release of the Nigerian Afrobeats star’s sixth album, Love, Damini, on 13 May.

After the release of ‘Last Last,’ it’s been on 17 charts around the world, including the UK Singles Chart and the Billboard Hot 100. Gold certification has also been earned in Canada, France, New Zealand and the UK.

“After turning 30, birthdays seem to make you reflect on your life choices, or a lack thereof — your goals, dreams, hopes, achievements and fears,” Burna Boy said upon the album’s release.

“Even though it put me in a vulnerable place, it also challenged me to do and feel more. I want you to listen to this and feel like it’s a roller-coaster ride.”

“Each track was inspired by significant life events that have impacted Burna,” a statement from the singer’s communication team reads. “The record marks a coming of age into his and captures Burna Boy’s new sound as he turns the page on a new musical era.”

Burna Boy is nominated

Aside from that, Burna Boy is nominated for the American Music Awards 2022, where he will compete against Tems, CKay, Wizkid, and Fireboy DML.
