Nigerian singer Ahmed Ololade, otherwise known as Asake, was named Artist of the Year for 2022 by the streaming platform Audiomack.
KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Ahmed Ololade, the Nigerian singer whom many know as Asake, has been announced as 2022’s Artist of the Year by streaming platform Audiomack.
- Asake is receiving this recognition following the success of his debut album, Mr Money With The Vibe, which is the highest-charting debut album by a Nigerian artist ever on Audiomack.
- A member of YBNL Nation/Empire, Asake also achieved a series of milestones in 2022, including being inducted into the YouTube Black Voices Fund Music Class of 2023 and winning Artist of the Year at the African Muzik Magazine Awards.
- Additionally, he has collaborated with Afrobeats heavyweights such as Burna Boy and Fireboy DML.
With this recognition, the musician has capped off an extraordinary career that has seen him dubbed Nigeria’s biggest breakout star in 2022.

Previously, Asake released the album Mr Money With The Vibe, which was the highest-charting debut album ever by a Nigerian artist on Audiomack. The album has been streamed over 330 million times.
His other achievements in 2022 include winning the Artist of the Year award at the 2022 African Muzik Magazine Awards and being inducted into the YouTube Black Voices Fund Music Class of 2023.
A few months ago, Asake joined Boomplay’s Golden Club after achieving 100 million streams on the music streaming platform. He secured a brand ambassador agreement with Parimatch and was also named one of the most streamed artists in sub-Saharan Africa by rival DSP Spotify.
The music of Asake is a unique blend of Afrobeats and Amapiano. The experiments have given Asake multiple hits that have remained on the charts for a long time, including the songs “Omo Ope”, “Sungba”, “Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)”, “Organise” and “Joha”.
Additionally, he has collaborated with Afrobeats heavyweights such as Burna Boy, Fireboy DML, and Tiwa Savage.
