KAMPALA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — On June 25, 2022, the body of the late ‘Ekwueme’ singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, arrived in the town where she grew up in the Amakpoke Umuaku community in Abia State, Nigeria, for burial.
- A funeral service for gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu was held in her hometown of Isuochi Umunneochi in Abia State on Saturday.
- Before her death, Osinachi worked at the Dunamis International Gospel Center in Abuja as a chorister. Osinachi died on April 8, 2022 after suffering domestic violence.
- Peter, the late singer’s husband, wept on Tuesday as Amarachi Ezeh, her twin sister, testified against him. The defendant stood accused of being responsible for the death of the late gospel singer.
- The twin sister of Osinachi told the court that her brother-in-law tried many times to stoke discord between them from the start. Ms Ezeh, 42, from Enugu, is the third prosecution witness in the alleged culpable homicide case against Mr Nwachukwu.

Prior to her death, Osinachi had been reported to have been the victim of domestic violence in Abuja.
She was a chorister at the headquarters of the Dunamis International Gospel Center in Abuja until her death.
Former federal lawmaker Nkeiruka Onyejeocha was among the visitors who attended the memorial service for singer Osinachi Nwachukwu.
In addition, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha has committed to supporting the Osinachi Foundation and paying for the school fees of four of the singer’s children, up to the level of university education.
Her husband pleaded not guilty
In the months since Osinachi Nwachukwu’s death, controversy has reigned.
Peter Nwachukwu, her husband, is facing a 23-count charge brought by the Federal High Court in Abuja in connection with domestic violence and homicide, among other charges.

Trial continues
During the court session on Tuesday, the late singer’s husband Peter cried while his wife’s twin sister Amarachi Ezeh testified against him.
The defendant stood accused of being responsible for the death of the late gospel singer.
Additionally, Osinachi’s twin sister told the court that her sister’s husband had attempted to sow a seed of discord to keep them apart.
Ezeh, 42, who lives in Enugu, gave evidence as a PW3 witness for the prosecution in the case of alleged culpable homicide against Mr Nwachukwu.
She added:
“Pastor Becky Enenche of Dunamis Church, Abuja, intervened before Nwachukwu allowed our mother, Caroline Madu, to visit. He sent our mother out of his house after two weeks,” Ms Ezeh shed tears while giving her testimony.
