KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — On Wednesday evening, Capital FM Uganda refuted allegations made by Rahma Nakands regarding an alleged intimate relationship between the station’s CEO, Peter Mungoma, and employee Lucky Mbabazi.

The claims had circulated earlier in the week when an anonymous user, @rnakands, hinted at a sexual scandal involving Mbabazi and her boss, Peter Mungoma.

In her tweet, Rahma alleged a “sex scandal” at Capital FM, suggesting that CEO Peter Mungoma and Lucky Mbabazi were engaged in a secret relationship, which had reportedly caused issues in Mbabazi’s marriage with Patrick Kanyomozi. The tweet also hinted at alleged connections between Lucky Mbabazi and Gaetano Kaggwa.

However, Mbabazi swiftly dismissed the allegations of a troubled marriage by sharing a video of herself and her husband working out on her Instagram account, captioned, “This mid-morning workout is directed by mwami.”

In an official statement, Capital FM categorically rejected these allegations, considering them “baseless and false.” The Kisementi-based radio station emphasized its dedication to maintaining a positive working environment for all employees and urged Rahma to retract the accusations.

Capital FM’s statement read: ”Capital Radio has noted the publications by Rahma Nakands (@RNakands) on social media and other online media regarding alleged intimate relations amongst its staff – with particular mention of its C.E.O, Peter Mungoma and Radio Presenters, Lucky Mbabazi and Gaetano Kaggwa. Capital Radio considers these allegations to be baseless and false and should deservedly be dismissed with contempt. Capital Radio maintains a positive working environment for all its staff, conducting social events for employee interaction and teambuilding as is proved by the publicly available images. This false report is malicious, regrettable and intended to misrepresent the cordial and collegial environment at Capital Radio. We are working with our client Capital Radio and the relevant law and order agencies to bring the offenders to account for the malicious statements and defamation of persons. A record of the offending publications has been filed for review and tracking the offenders. As a broadcaster and corporate citizen, Capital Radio recognizes the protection of the Freedom of Expression but urges civility of discourse and engagement without infringement of the rights of other persons. Redress should be made by taking down the offending posts and an apology in like media.”
