Friends of the late gospel singer, Osinachi Nwachukwu, claim the musician died as a result of domestic violence, brutalized by her husband, instead of throat cancer as widely believed.
KAMPALA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Many friends of the late gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu contend the musician died as a result of domestic violence, like being beaten by her husband, and not of throat cancer as is widely believed.
- It was revealed through a series of Facebook posts and status messages that the singer had suffered from domestic violence for a long time.
- Amanda Chisom, a lifestyle blogger, accused her husband of being a “control freak whose only interest is to maximize profit from her voice”.
- Also, find out how Nigerian singer Sister Osinachi Nwachukwu, a Beloved Igbo Gospel Artist, passed away in a bizarre manner.
The cause of Osinachi Nwachukwu’s death has been attributed to a kick to the chest she received from her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, an injury that put her on life support for five days before she passed away.
It was revealed in Facebook posts and WhatsApp status messages that the singer had been victimized by domestic violence for some time.
One of her closest friends, lifestyle blogger Amanda Chisom, called her husband a “control freak” who only cared about maximum profit from her voice.
Similarly, another close friend claimed that the victim’s manager, who is also her husband, took control of her phone, social media accounts, and bank accounts, and was paid for her services.
Gospel artiste, Gold Martins, who posted screenshots of her friends verifying the singer’s alleged abuse, claimed that the victim talked about the abuse to her friend, explaining her experience and her inability to leave.
Gold said that the singer would have left the marriage if not for the church and what others might think.
One of the friends said the singer told her of how the husband would tie her up and ask the children to “beat her up with a cane. She told me this.”
The friend said, “He would lock her up in the house even on days when she had important concerts and programmes that she had already been paid for.”
“I hosted her in one of my programmes, The INVASION in 2019. It was a terrible experience with the husband on the phone and then when she arrived, she shared scary marital issues.”
“She had to sneak out of the house to honour the invitation. The husband threatened me on the phone and assured me that the wife would not return to his house if she attended the event.”
The death of Osinachi Nwachukwu was announced in Abuja on Friday, April 8; her husband was said to have been arrested for her death.
Having previously left the abusive marriage, the Dunamis chorister and mother of four reportedly reconciled with her husband through Pastor Paul Eneche, founder and senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre.

RIP #Osinachinwachukwu 💔
Your death should teach women and men to leave abusive relationships before they die. This is really sad. pic.twitter.com/Hyhpr6QrFb— Joan Ngomba (@joanngomba) April 9, 2022
Now everyone is saying, leave the marriage, leave the abusive relationship, divorce is an option and so on. Yes I agree
But I hope in the nearest future we don't mock people who took the bold step to do this it.
Rip Osinachi #Osinachinwachukwu
