Ecobank Rwanda is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Richard Mugisha as its new Chairman of the Board of Directors.

KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Ecobank Rwanda has appointed Mr. Richard Mugisha as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors, succeeding Mr. Ivan Twagirashema who retired in August 2023 after a 4-year tenure.

Mr. Mugisha is recognized for his strategic direction, innovation, financial performance, and commitment to responsible banking.

This appointment reflects Ecobank Rwanda’s dedication to fortify leadership and advance its strategy of providing innovative financial solutions in Rwanda.

With over 25 years of experience, Mr. Mugisha is an accomplished entrepreneur and legal expert, offering counsel to both public and private sectors within Rwanda and beyond. He has excelled in driving growth and operational excellence, especially in the financial sector.

Mr. Mugisha’s extensive experience in board leadership, stakeholder engagement, and innovative strategies aligns with Ecobank Rwanda’s goals. His addition enhances the bank’s leadership.

Mrs. Carine Umutoni, Ecobank Rwanda Managing Director, expressed gratitude to Mr. Mugisha for joining as Chairman and commended Dr. Ivan Twagirashema, the outgoing Chairman, for his dedicated 9-year service.
