Lagos, Nigeria | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The nominees for the 2023 edition of The Future Awards Africa have been revealed. Notable musicians such as Nigeria’s Ayra Starr, Asake, Cameroonian artist Libianca, and French singers Aya Nakamura and Tayc are shortlisted for the music prize. TG Omori, a renowned music video director in the Afrobeats scene, recognized for collaborations with artists like Asake and Davido, is a nominee in the film category.
The Future Awards Africa, presented by social enterprise The Future Project, aims to honor exceptional individuals aged 18 to 31 across various fields. These awards recognize those who challenge norms and have made a significant impact in the past year.
Under the theme “Defying Odds, Inspiring Greatness,” this year’s awards will encompass 25 categories, spanning dance, sport, film, entrepreneurship, and tech. Nominees must have demonstrated substantial and well-documented impact either in Nigeria or globally to qualify.
In the previous year’s awards held in Lagos, Nigeria, singer Tems won the music prize. Past winners include notable artists like Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, highlighting the prestigious history of these awards in celebrating outstanding talents.
