Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Five people, including Noah Lujja, Harriet Nakiguli, Joseph Nakabale, Ezra Mayanja, and Milly Naluwenda, have been charged with murder in connection to the shooting of Daniel Bbosa, the head of Buganda Kingdom’s Ndiga clan. They appeared before Mwanga II Magistrate’s Court where charges were read to them. However, they couldn’t speak as the case is triable only in the High Court.

The Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate, Adam Byaruhanga, informed them that the court lacks jurisdiction, advising them to seek bail from the High Court. The case was adjourned to April 11 for mention.

According to prosecution led by Ms. Caroline Mpumwire, the group, along with others, unlawfully caused Bbosa’s death on February 25, 2024, in Kampala District. Bbosa was killed by gunmen riding a motorcycle as he approached his residence in Lungujja, Rubaga Division, Kampala.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Noah Lujja and Milly Naluwenda hired Bbosa’s killers near his home. Residents pursued and apprehended the assailants, lynching one of them, identified as Enock Sserunkuma. Lujja, who was spared after being clobbered for information, is receiving treatment and has provided leads leading to the arrest of six others, including Naluwenda.

The police suspect the motive behind Bbosa’s killing may be linked to a cultural seat conflict dating back 487 years.
