According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, the attackers targeted Pastor Bugingo’s vehicle, nicknamed PRAIZ GOD, around 9:00 PM on January 2, 2024, along Namungoona, Zone 2, Kasubi, Rubaga Division, Kampala. The assailants, who remain unidentified, opened fire and made a quick escape on a motorcycle at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road.

Despite sustaining injuries, Pastor Bugingo managed to drive the vehicle to Mulago Hospital. Unfortunately, Muhumuza Richard, the bodyguard, did not survive the assault and was pronounced dead upon reaching the hospital.

“Pastor Bugingo is currently receiving medical treatment and is being closely monitored. Thankfully, he is out of danger,” mentioned Owoyesigyire, providing an update on the pastor’s condition.

This incident adds to a series of attacks on high-profile individuals in different parts of the country. Notably, Pastor Bugingo, a staunch supporter of President Yoweri Museveni and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), has often used his pulpit to criticize the opposition while rallying support for Museveni and presidential hopeful Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

We praise the Lord that our strong supporter, Pastor Bugingo, survived an attempt on his life last night as he was driving home. I have spoken to him and he is well.
