Nairobi, Kenya | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The Swedish pop rock ensemble Roxette is slated to grace the stages of the Grand Arena in Cape Town and Time Square in Pretoria on February 26 and February 28, 2025, correspondingly.

Titled “Roxette in Concert,” the tour, orchestrated by Big Concerts, signifies the band’s resurgence onto the touring circuit after a hiatus of nine years following their last major excursion, commencing in Cape Town before traversing to Australia. This endeavor follows the lamentable loss of Marie Fredriksson to cancer nearly five years prior.

Under the guidance of songwriter and progenitor Per Gessle, Roxette will showcase their talents alongside vocalist Lena Philipsson.

Gessle remarked, “This is all about my Roxette songs, this huge bundle of music and lyrics I’ve been writing for well over three decades. I’m not starting a new duo. Marie will always be irreplaceable. However, I’m really lucky to have found an amazing voice and a brilliant performer in Lena Philipsson.”

”I co-wrote Lena’s first major hit back in 1986 and she’s one of the brightest shining stars Sweden has ever known. I’m extremely proud she wants to join me in my trek to keep the Roxette legacy alive.”

Following their stint in South Africa, the ensemble is slated to grace Australian locales such as Melbourne, Sydney, Wollongong, Adelaide, Hobart, and Mount Cotton.

Philipsson expressed, “I’m both excited and thrilled about embarking on this tour. I really look forward to working with Per – he is a phenomenal songwriter and a neverending musical force.”

“2025 heralds a revival of the extensive catalog exclusively penned by Gessle, as he reunites the Roxette band to deliver live renditions of his compositions to a devoted audience,” as per an official statement. “Their melodic heritage persists, perpetually resonating through global airwaves and capturing the hearts of both longstanding aficionados and newfound enthusiasts.”
