In recent years, Evelyne Love was flown to Turkey for a kidney transplant. However, medical experts deemed her health unsuitable for the procedure, advising continued dialysis due to concerns that a transplant might shorten her life.

Ever since her return from Turkey, the songstress had been undergoing dialysis twice a week.

Tragically, it is reported that she passed away at home shortly after undergoing dialysis, taking her last breath and passing away instantly.

Evelyn Lagu, born on June 1, 1982, in what is now Kalungu district (formerly part of Masaka), experienced a challenging upbringing following the loss of her parents, being raised by her aunt in Mityana district.

She pursued her education at Aga Khan, Mityana SS, Pride SS Mityana for O’ Levels, and later completed her A’ Levels at St. Peter’s Busubizi in 1999.

Lagu began her music career as a backup singer for renowned artists like Carol Nakimera, Halima Namakula, Ragga Dee, and Mampi from Zambia. She also collaborated with bands such as Mustard and Flash. Some of her most celebrated solo songs include “Ogumanga,” “Ngukuwadde,” “Silkyatya,” and “Kasita Bakuleka.”

Earlier this year, Lagu’s friends rallied to construct a new home for her and her children in Bujjuuko.
