Condé Nast, the publisher of Vogue, has appointed Chioma Nnnadi as the new head of editorial content for British Vogue, succeeding Edward Enninful.
LAGOS, NIGERIA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Condé Nast, the publisher of Vogue, has appointed Chioma Nnadi to lead British Vogue, succeeding the outgoing editor-in-chief, Edward Enninful. Rumors had circulated, suggesting her as a likely successor.
Nnadi, formerly the editor of Vogue.com, a role that made waves in the fashion world in 2020, assumes this position.
Vogue.com is the American digital platform of the prestigious magazine. Nnadi earned public goodwill not only for her talent and industriousness as a fashion journalist but also for her critical voice addressing fashion’s diversity problem.
A London native of Nigerian and Swiss-German descent, Nnadi had bylines at indie titles such as Fader, Trace, and London’s Evening Standard before joining American Vogue as a fashion writer in 2010. She was named Fashion News Director in 2014, steadily ascending the Vogue masthead.

In an exclusive interview with The Guardian from her New York home, Nnadi acknowledged the pressure that comes with her new role at Vogue, stating, “Is there pressure? Yeah, there’s definitely pressure – It’s Vogue.”
Her title at British Vogue is not editor-in-chief but head of editorial content, in line with the broader restructuring plans at Condé Nast. Her responsibilities will include expanding Vogue’s digital footprint and maintaining an engaging experience for readers.

Although Nnadi’s distinguished background speaks for itself, the fashion industry will keenly observe her strategies to elevate British Vogue.
Enninful’s transformative influence at the publication, becoming the first man and Black person to hold the editor-in-chief role in 2017, has set a high standard. His tenure was marked by substantial changes, from diversifying the staff to infusing the publication with a multicultural appeal.
