Gwendolyn Mukulu and Pastor Myco Chris, Ugandan gospel singers, are the most proud parents following Israella Chris’s victory in the 2022 series of The Voice Kids UK.
KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — In the 2022 series of The Voice Kids UK, Ugandan gospel singers Pastor Myco Chris and Gwendolyn Mukulu’s daughter Israella Chris emerged victorious.
- During The Voice Kids UK 2022, Israella Chris, 14, was announced as the winner by host Emma Willis after impressing judges Roman Keating (replacing Mel C), Will.i.am, Danny Jones, and Pixie Lott. Israella is perhaps most well-known for performing at Pixie Lott’s wedding.
- Israella was up against Todd, Sebastian, and Tawana, which made pop star Pixie Lott (Israella’s coach) very happy.
- Israella gave several powerful performances throughout the series, including a soulful rendition of Ray Charles’ “Georgia on My Mind.” In the final, she moved everyone to tears with Carrie Underwood’s “How Great Thou Art”
Throughout the UK, The Voice Kids UK has seen kids aged seven to 14 demonstrate their vocal abilities. Israella’s family and friends encouraged her to apply. This season consisted of three episodes to showcase the talent of the contestants.
Israella Chris, 14, was named The Voice Kids UK 2022 winner by host Emma Willis after impressing judges Roman Keating (replacing Mel C), Will.i.am, Danny Jones, and Pixie Lott. Israella also performed at the wedding of Pixie Lott.
Soon after learning she had won the trip to Universal Orlando, the young singer was ecstatic and nearly speechless.
In addition to Israella, Todd, Sebastian, and Tawana participated in the competition, giving Pixie Lott (Israella’s coach) great pleasure.
When Israella’s name was called, she thanked everyone for believing in her and hoped that she had made them proud of her.
She said:
“I want to thank these guys over here,” pointing to her fellow finalists. “You guys brought the fire this year!” Israella’s loved ones, then rushed to the stage to embrace her.
At various points throughout the series, Israella gave powerful performances, beginning with her soulful rendition of Ray Charles’ “Georgia on My Mind.” She made everyone cry during her performance of the Carrie Underwood song, “How Great Thou Art”.
Currently, Israella is in the tenth grade and studying a wide range of extra-curricular activities alongside her GCSEs.
