On Thursday (June 8), BET revealed the nominees for the highly anticipated 23rd annual BET Awards. Topping the list are Drake and GloRilla, both receiving multiple nominations across various categories.

NAIROBI, KENYA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — On Thursday, June 8, 2023, BET unveiled the nominees for the highly anticipated 23rd annual BET Awards, with renowned artists Drake and GloRilla emerging as frontrunners in the race for recognition.

Drake’s Dominance

Drake, the renowned “Search & Rescue” rapper, secured an impressive seven nominations. His nods include best male hip-hop artist, best male R&B/pop artist, best group (with 21 Savage), and album of the year for his collaboration with 21 Savage, “Her Loss.”

GloRilla’s Rising Stardom

GloRilla Lead Nominations for 23rd Annual BET Awards

GloRilla, an emerging artist, matched Drake’s success with an equal number of nominations.

Her nominations spanned solo and collaborative efforts, earning her recognition in categories such as best female hip-hop artist, best new artist, album of the year for “Anyways, Life’s Great,” and video of the year for “Tomorrow 2” featuring Cardi B.

Other Notable Nominees

Following closely behind Drake and GloRilla, 21 Savage and Lizzo received five nominations each, demonstrating their significant contributions to the industry. Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice, and SZA earned four nominations each, further solidifying their remarkable talent and impact.
