Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Alexander Bagonza, also known as A Pass, is gearing up to release his third studio album, “BAGONZA,” on February 1, 2024. The album follows his debut “NVA KAMPALA” (May 13, 2016) and “AFRICAN YAYO” (April 27, 2018).
Originally planned as an EP titled “Bedroom Terrorist,” the album underwent several changes before settling on the name “BAGONZA.” Production credits include HerbertSkillz, Nessim Pan Production, Sir Dan Magic, and Baru Beatz, with A Pass heavily involved in the process.
The album, set to drop via Game Over Records, faced delays due to track selection and extensive mixing and mastering. A Pass teased various genres, including RnB, Afro dancehall, and reggae, during previews on social media platforms.
Featuring 42 tracks, “BAGONZA” breaks from A Pass’s solo tradition, with collaborations from Likkle Bangi, Alina Jah, Akeine, and Ceee. Notable tracks include “TOUCH YOU” (track 8) and “DO YOU WANT ME” (track 25) featuring Ceee, fulfilling a promise made during their collaboration on “Nile.”
Visual artist Hatimax Sebintu, A Pass’s long-term collaborator, is responsible for crafting the album artwork. Each artwork piece tells a unique story, with “NVA KAMPALA” featuring A Pass as “The Teacher” and “AFRICAN YAYO” showcasing themes of struggles and challenges.
Noteworthy is the absence of Lilian Mbabazi in the collaborations, considering their proven musical chemistry. Additionally, fans may anticipate surprises, as A Pass is known for unexpected twists, possibly hinting at a deluxe edition after the album’s release.
It’s essential to mention that “BAGONZA” does not include any previously released tracks, promising a fresh and unique listening experience for A Pass’s fans.
