Bebe Cool Drops Long-Awaited Album “Break The Chains” at Star-Studded Listening Party

Musically, Break The Chains is different. You can tell Bebe is tapping into something bigger than just local charts. He’s leaned into Afro sounds — Afrobeats, Afrotech, Afro house — the kind of music that’s been taking over clubs and festivals across the continent, especially in places like South Africa.

After months of eager anticipation, Ugandan music heavyweight and philanthropist Moses Ssali, popularly known as Bebe Cool, has finally released his brand-new album Break The Chains. The 16-track project dropped at midnight and is now streaming on major platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and YouTube Music.

To mark the occasion, Bebe Cool hosted an exclusive album listening party at Nonie Vie. The event drew a crowd of notable industry players — from fellow musicians to top media personalities and music executives. The vibe was electric as guests got a first listen to what many are calling one of Bebe’s most experimental works yet.

Co-hosting the night was celebrated Nigerian broadcaster and music tastemaker Adesope Olajide, also known as Shopsydoo or Energy Gawd. He shared the stage with Uganda’s very own Viana Indi of NBS TV, while DJ Slick Stuart kept the rhythms flowing all evening.

During an engaging sit-down with Shopsydoo, Bebe Cool walked the audience through the inspiration behind each song, offering rare insights into his creative process. He spoke passionately about tapping into Afrocentric styles, reflecting the global shift toward African sounds like Afrobeats and the emerging Afrotech — a fusion of electronic house music and African rhythms that traces its roots to South Africa.

Break The Chains explores a rich sound palette, from smooth Afrobeats grooves to pulsating Afrotech beats, all anchored by Bebe Cool’s distinctive raspy vocals. It’s a bold evolution for the veteran artist, who continues to push musical boundaries with every release.

“This album marks the start of a new chapter — not just for me, but for African and Ugandan music as a whole,” Bebe Cool said. “I’m focusing more on digital platforms now. I want fans to stream the music, rather than rely on concerts or pirated copies.”

The album also features exciting collaborations, including a standout track with rising Ugandan star Joshua Baraka and a powerful duet with Nigerian icon Yemi Alade. Fans and critics alike have praised Bebe’s daring sonic direction, with local music heavyweights like Juliana Kanyomozi, Azawi, Cindy, A Pass, and veteran producer Benon Mugumbya of Swangz Avenue showing their support.
