Lagos, Nigeria | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Boomplay has released its yearly music consumption report, Boomplay Recap 2023, offering insights into trends across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Tanzania. The report showcases a catalog expansion to 120 million songs, featuring over 10 million artists and 7,500+ content providers. Afrobeats and amapiano dominate as the most popular genres in 2023.

In Nigeria, top male artists include Asake, Seyi Vibez, and Davido, while Ayra Starr, Mercy Chinwo, and Tiwa Savage lead among females. Rising talents are Shallipopi, Odumodublvck, and Spyro. Burna Boy becomes the first artist to achieve 1 billion streams, earning a place in Boomplay’s Platinum Club.

In Ghana, Black Sherif, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy stand out among male artists, while Wendy Shay, Diana Hamilton, and Gyakie lead the female category. Rising artists include Banzy Banero, OlivetheBoy, and Skyface SDW.
