Rwandan artist Itahiwacu Bruce, famously known as Bruce Melodie, has released his first album, Colourful Generation. This highly anticipated project is now accessible on platforms like Spotify, Deezer, and Apple Music.
With 21 tracks, the album represents a pivotal achievement in Bruce Melodie’s career, solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in African music. Seamlessly blending Afro-pop, amapiano, and R&B, the album highlights his musical versatility. Standout collaborations include tracks like When She’s Around (Funga Macho) featuring Shaggy, Niki Minaji, Iyo Foto, Marijuana, and Diva.
Describing the album as a tribute to younger generations, Bruce Melodie emphasized its message of self-acceptance and celebration of diversity. “This album is for the new generation Gen Z, Gen Alpha. It shows that it’s okay to be seen as different. This album describes our struggles, our happiness, and our perspectives on various matters, while also embracing the stories and melodies in songs.”
The lead single, Beauty on Fire, features Nigeria’s Joeboy and combines captivating Afropop beats with heartfelt lyrics. Directed by Bahali Ruth and J. Chretien Munezero, the accompanying video tells a powerful story of unwavering love and the transformative power it holds.
Born and raised in Kigali, Bruce Melodie has become one of East Africa’s most decorated artists, with popular hits like Katerina, Bado, and Ikinya. His accolades include winning Best East African Artist at the 2023 Trace Awards. The international collaboration with Shaggy on When She’s Around (Funga Macho) brought him further global recognition, with a performance that reached over 500 million viewers during the inaugural Trace Music Awards.
To promote Colourful Generation, Bruce Melodie began a tour in December 2024, performing at Kenya’s Raha Fest and hosting listening events in Uganda and Rwanda. In 2025, he aims to expand his reach across Africa, further cementing his presence in the global music scene.
