The 2025 Trace Awards winners were revealed in Zanzibar on February 26, bringing together Africa’s top music talent for a night of celebration. Afrobeats, amapiano, and other African genres took center stage, proving once again that the continent’s sound is shaping global music.

South African duo Titom & Yuppe dominated with Tshwala Bam, winning Song of the Year. The track became a massive hit, setting dance floors on fire everywhere. Nigerian star Rema continued his winning streak, taking home Album of the Year for Heis, a project that blends Afrobeats with global influences. He also won Best Male Artist, solidifying his reign.

Ivorians Tam Sir & Team Paiya won Best Collaboration for their electrifying track Coup du Marteau, while director Meji Alabi took Best Music Video for his stunning work on Rema’s DND.

Diamond Platnumz

Makhadzi’s unmatched energy earned her Best Dancer, while Algeria’s DJ Moh Green claimed Best DJ. Diamond Platnumz, a constant force in African music, was named Best Global African Artist. Ivorian rapper Didi B secured Best Hip Hop Artist with his sharp delivery and undeniable talent.

Among female artists, Tyla was crowned Best Female Artist for her originality and captivating style. Mercy Chinwo took Best Gospel Artist, touching hearts with her powerful vocals.

Regional stars also had their moment. Josey won Best French-Speaking Artist, Ayra Starr dominated West Africa, and Tyler ICU took Best Southern African Artist. Kenya’s Bien was named Best East African Artist, while Chelsea Dinorath from Angola stood out as Best Portuguese-Speaking Artist. Representing Tanzania, Nandy took home Best Tanzanian Artist.
