Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Uganda’s music stars, Eddy Kenzo and Jose Chameleone, are in the spotlight for potential Grammy Award nominations at the 66th Grammy Awards. The official nominees for all Grammy categories will be revealed on November 10, with the awards ceremony set to take place in Los Angeles on February 4, 2024.

Jose Chameleone, the head of Leone Island, has secured a remarkable double-consideration for his track “Ready,” a collaboration with Jamaican legends Morgan Heritage. The song is up for consideration in two categories: Best Global Music Performance and Best Music Video. This recognition marks a significant achievement for Chameleone, who became the first Ugandan contemporary singer nominated for an international award back in 2007 at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

Meanwhile, Eddy Kenzo is celebrating an impressive quadruple-consideration nomination in various categories: Best Global Music Album for “Blessing,” Best Global Music Performance for “Ukulele Esanyu” featuring Daniel Ho, Best African Music Performance for “Positivity” featuring Masaka Kids Africana, and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Spread Hope Send Love Around The World” featuring Various Artists.

Overflowing with gratitude, Kenzo reflected on his journey from the streets of Masaka and Kampala to this remarkable point in his career. He expressed his thanks to God for the blessings and the opportunity to spread love through his music.

I can’t stop thanking God for the Blessings. I look back at the times when I had no hope, when I was a no body on the streets of Masaka and Kampala. Having all these tracks up for consideration for Grammys @RecordingAcad is indeed a miracle. I’ll keep sharing and spreading love… pic.twitter.com/FFUkI3NEH0
