KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The list of 2022 Headies winners includes the likes of Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy. The award ceremony took place in Atlanta, Georgia, the United States.
- The Headies Awards held their 15th annual ceremony in Atlanta, Georgia on Monday, September 5, 2022. Hosted by Emmy-nominated actor Anthony Anderson and celebrated Nigerian actress Osas Ighodoro, the Headies 2022 ceremony aims to reward artists for their achievements in music and culture.
- The Headies welcome newcomers every year, and this year is no different. Artists including Liya, Ibeji, Fave, Pink, and Ayra Starr made their Headies debut. In addition to these artists, there was also debuts from Goya Menor and Blase Beats, as well as Beats by Jayy and Lojay.
- FireboyDML won best Afrobeats single for “Peru” and best music video for “Champion” (featuring D Smoke). Patoranking won best recording of the year for “Celebrate Me” and best reggae & dancehall album for Three.
It was the first time the awards ceremony was held outside of Nigeria. The Headies are an annual celebration of music, entertainment, and culture.
Wizkid won five awards, including Best Collaboration, Song of the Year and Album of the Year for ‘MADE IN LAGOS‘. Following that, Tems was awarded Best Female Artist and Best R&B Album for If Orange Was a Place.
In addition, Burna Boy won the Best Male Artiste award and African Artiste of the Year. Other notable winners included Buju BNXN, who won the Next Rated award, which is valued at N300 million.
The Headies 2022 award ceremony celebrated the best of Nigerian music artists. The event was hosted by Anthony Anderson and Osas Ighodaro, and it was the first Headies ceremony to take place outside of Nigeria.
The night was filled with glitz and glamour, and it showcased the best of Afrobeats. Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, Fireboy DML, Patoranking, Tems and Olamide with Carpe Diem were among the biggest winners at the 2022 Headies.
