Mumbai, India | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Krystyna Pyszková, a law student and model from the Czech Republic, emerged victorious as Miss World 2024 in Mumbai, India, surpassing 111 competitors from around the world. The pageant featured various preliminary competitions such as fitness, beauty, talent, and public speaking, granting some contestants “fast track” spots in the top 40.
Progressing through rounds, the field narrowed to a top 12, then top eight, culminating in a Q&A session on topics from the recent G20 Summit. Pyszková highlighted the importance of destigmatizing menstruation for women’s health.
In the final stage, four contestants pitched their philanthropic platforms to “Shark Tank India” moguls, representing different regions: Africa, the Americas and Caribbean, Asia and Oceania, and Europe. Pyszková’s win came over Yasmina Zeytoun of Lebanon, Aché Abrahams of Trinidad and Tobago, and Lesego Chombo of Botswana.
Miss World, established in 1951, is renowned as the oldest international beauty pageant. Notable winners include Indian actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (1994) and Priyanka Chopra Jonas (2000). Chopra Jonas expressed her gratitude in a video message at the event.
Pyszková succeeds Karolina Bielawska of Poland, who held the title since March 2022. No pageant occurred in 2023 due to scheduling conflicts.
