Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — A disturbing case unfolded in the High Court in Kampala, where Musa Musasizi, a 25-year-old unemployed resident of Mujomba zone 6 in Nakulabye, Rubaga Division, was handed a sentence of 105 years for the brutal murder of four girlfriends and an innocent baby.
The court learned that Musasizi, now convicted by Judge Margaret Mutonyi, would horrifically burn the bodies of his victims after committing the heinous crimes.
Musasizi, a youth grappling with unemployment, pleaded guilty to the charges surrounding the deaths of five women and a three-month-old baby in Nakulabye. The arrest took place in March 2021, triggering a legal process that began at the Mwanga II magistrate’s court, where he faced six counts of murder before being remanded to Kitalya prison.
According to the prosecution’s account, Musasizi, on March 14, 2021, in Mujomba zone 6, Nakulabye, acted with malice aforethought to murder Noreen Nabirye. He continued his ruthless spree by taking the lives of Violet Kansiime, Abigail Nakitende on March 12, and Elizabeth Mutesi on March 15, 2021.
In a separate but equally chilling case, Musasizi found himself jointly charged with a 23-year-old boda boda rider, Abdul Kasaija, a resident of Mapera zone, Lussaze in Rubaga division. The charges pertained to the murder of Mackline Ahereza on February 22, 2021. Kasaija faced additional charges of being an accessory, alleging that he knowingly assisted Musasizi in disposing of and burning Ahereza’s body to aid his escape from punishment.
The joint security efforts of the chieftaincy of military intelligence and the police led to Musasizi’s arrest on March 25, 2021. Revelations in court painted a gruesome picture of Musasizi courting his victims, engaging in intimate relations with them, and then mercilessly ending their lives through blunt force or strangulation.
After committing these atrocious acts, he callously dumped their lifeless bodies in close proximity within Nakulabye and set them ablaze.
Upon his apprehension, Musasizi admitted to the murders, citing suspicions of infidelity as the motive for killing Mackline Ahereza. He confessed to strangling Violet Kansiime and, upon returning home, doing the same to her three-month-old baby. The motive for Elizabeth Mutesi’s murder, according to Musasizi, stemmed from a dispute over inadequate transportation fare after an intimate encounter.
Disturbingly, police discovered clothes belonging to the victims in a neighbor’s latrine, underscoring the chilling reality of Musasizi’s crimes.
