For those unfamiliar with the S8, let us give you a quick rundown of the features. In this review, we will take a look at the specifications of the new phone so you can make an informed decision.
For our purposes, we will be focusing on the US market, but you can also find information about the Asia-only version of this phone.
6.2in display
The 6.2in Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus display is a beautiful, sharp screen that’s perfect for watching videos and reading text.
While it’s larger than the Galaxy S8 and smaller than the Galaxy S9, it’s still more than big enough to replace a tablet and still feel comfortable in your hand.
The display has an inky black background and a wide range of brightness levels that make it perfect for HDR video.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus display comes with a full HD resolution, but it can easily switch to 720p equivalents.
This massive phone isn’t for everyone, but it is one of the most beautiful phones on the market.
While it doesn’t quite match the iPhone X in terms of screen size, it still boasts high-performance internals and a great camera.
Its biggest competitor is the regular S8, which has the same display size. Samsung may have shot itself in the foot by creating two similar handsets.
The 6.2in Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus display is the largest of any smartphone. It is slightly larger than the Note 7 and has a curved edge, and a streamlined, narrow body.
The resolution is a whopping 2,960 x 1,440 pixels. That’s 530 pixels per inch, and a rounded edge that allows you to read text in comfort.
The aspect ratio means that the S8+’s display isn’t a pixel-perfect display, but it has a great feel.
The 6.2in Super AMOLED 16M color display on the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is another impressive feature.
The curved edge is one of the best features of this phone.
Its sharpness and vibrant colors make it a great choice for video watching. While you’ll be able to easily read text on the phone’s large screen, you’ll have to keep in mind that it’s going to be expensive.
6GB of RAM
In the rest of the world, the Samsung Galaxy S8 came out with 4GB of RAM, but you can expect a more powerful version with 6GB of RAM.
Both models will also come with a generous 64GB and 128GB of storage. In China, though, you’ll be able to find a variant with 6GB of RAM.
Unfortunately, the 6GB of RAM on the Galaxy S8 Plus is only available on the model in China.
If you’re looking to buy a phone with 6GB of RAM, you’ll need to look for a carrier that offers the device. If you’re in the US, the price should be around $980.
Depending on your carrier, you can expect to pay up to $1,280 for the 6GB RAM version. However, if you’re looking for an unlocked version, you’ll likely have to pay a bit more than that.
The 6GB RAM Galaxy S8 Plus comes with a larger battery, a bigger screen, and more RAM than its smaller counterpart, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active.
Despite the extra memory and storage, the two phones share the same 12 MP Rear Camera, 8 MP Front Camera, and Android 7.0 operating system.
The 6GB RAM Galaxy S8 Plus is a great upgrade to the previous version.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus was made available in India on June 9 for Rs. 74,900. A refurbished model will retail for Rs. 64,900, but Samsung’s official Indian website has a discounted version for Rs. 70,900.
Flipkart still has the phone for Rs. 64,900. But you can also get a free wireless charger with the device for Rs. 4,499.
Bixby virtual assistant
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is equipped with the Bixby virtual assistant, which can help the user control the phone by using natural language commands.
Bixby is a great way to get tailored information, check the camera and complete tasks. It also allows the user to customise its answers and appearance to suit the person who asks it a question.
The Bixby virtual assistant is available in several areas, including the lock screen and the notification center. The first version of Bixby had its own button, but it was later dropped due to unpopularity.
To use the Bixby feature, users must first register with the Samsung app, which requires access to the system.
Nevertheless, it is not a mandatory requirement for this tutorial. If you wish to remap the Bixby button, you can opt to do so via the settings menu.
If you have a side button on your phone, you can use the power button to invoke Bixby.
If you wish to deactivate Bixby, you can do so from the Settings app by long pressing an empty space on the Home screen.
Afterwards, swipe to the right to open Bixby Home. After the deactivation process, you can restart Bixby. It may take up to a week for the new Bixby account to appear.
The Bixby app is also available on the computer.
The Bixby virtual assistant on the Samsung galaxy S8 plus comes with three components. The first component is called Bixby, and the second one is Samsung Connect.
The integration of these three components ensures a seamless experience.
Moreover, Bixby is designed to integrate with the Samsung Connect, so users can share information and collaborate with their family and friends.
In this way, the virtual assistant can help the users organize their daily lives and help them keep track of tasks.
USB-C port
If you have a Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus, you may have noticed that the USB-C port has stopped working. To fix this, you can try the following steps:
First, make sure to check the charger that you’re using. Your Samsung Galaxy S8+ has a USB-C port. Make sure you get an official Samsung charger.
If not, you may end up damaging your phone or making it charge more slowly than usual.
Also, never plug in a Micro USB cable into the Samsung Galaxy S8’s multi-purpose jack. If you are using a USB-C-compatible charger, it will work fine.
You can also look for a USB-C-to-USB adapter. You can use one of these to connect your Galaxy S8/S8 Plus to a regular USB-A-A port.
While the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8 Plus is compatible with a USB-C wall charger, most devices are not. To solve this problem, you should purchase a USB-C-to-USB-C adapter.
If you want a cable that will work with your phone, you should go for a 56k-O-resistance type.
If none of the above solutions work, you can try to reset your device. Then, connect headphones to your Samsung Galaxy S8.
Make sure you’ve backed up your data before you reset the phone. It’s best to back up your data before you try this, otherwise it could end up in the same problem.
If none of these work, you can reset the device, but make sure to backup all your data first.
Curved body
The Galaxy S8 Plus are two new flagship smartphones from Samsung, and they feature curved screens.
The Galaxy S8 features a 6.2-inch screen, and it is available in a variety of colors, including Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, and Coral Blue.
The front face is nearly bezel-less, and Samsung has removed the physical buttons on the bottom.
There is no physical home button, but Samsung has moved the fingerprint sensor to the back next to the camera. And, the Galaxy S8 Plus still has a headphone jack.
The internal specs of the Galaxy S8 Plus are impressive, but there are some notable shortcomings.
While the Galaxy S8 in Western markets features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, models sold outside of the West come with Samsung’s Exynos processor.
Both processors are quick and powerful, but the iPhone 7‘s is faster. The curves on both handsets help them feel more ergonomic and more comfortable to hold.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus has a similar curved design, with a thin top bezel. The screen is larger, but the S8+ has the same resolution as the smaller S8.
Its screen is slightly curved on both sides, which can make it more difficult to read if you’re on a crowded subway platform.
The Galaxy S8 has a more rectangular shape, while the S8+ is slightly curved on its side.
Other notable features include a 3.5mm headphone jack, a dedicated Bixby button, and a dual-band Wi-Fi.
Samsung’s new flagship phones also come with a USB-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The company ships its phones with in-ear earphones by Harman AKG. The curvy design of the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus gives it a distinctive look.
