Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Susan Nsibirwa has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Monitor Publications Limited (MPL), becoming Uganda’s first female managing director for Nation Media Group (NMG-U). The appointment is effective from January 2, 2024, as announced by group CEO Stephen Gitagama.

Nsibirwa will lead MPL and Africa Broadcasting Limited (ABUL), overseeing NTV Uganda and Spark TV, focusing on long-term strategy and business plans. With over 25 years of experience, including 15 in senior executive roles, Nsibirwa holds an MBA from the University of Nicosia and a BA in Mass Communication from Makerere University.

She replaces Tony Glencross, who completes his tenure on December 22, 2023. Glencross led NMG-U through a digital transformation, implementing a paywall for digital content in October 2023. He expressed confidence in the company’s continued success and highlighted achievements during his term. NMG is the largest independent media house in East and Central Africa, operating in print, broadcast, and digital media across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda. In Uganda, the conglomerate includes NTV Uganda, Spark TV, Daily Monitor, The East African, Enyanda, KFM, Dembe FM, and Nation Courier.

Congratulations @SueNsibirwa on your appointment as Managing Director @DailyMonitor! There were many competent and capable contenders but unfortunately only one could be chosen. Wishing you all the best… pic.twitter.com/Yf1H7SBx1s
