Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Legendary British band UB40 has clarified its position regarding an upcoming concert in Kampala, Uganda, titled “UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell.” In a statement on the band’s official website, UB40 made it clear that this concert does not involve any members of the original band, despite Ali Campbell, a former vocalist, billing it as such.
Ali Campbell, who left UB40 over 15 years ago, is set to perform in Uganda under the name “UB40 Featuring Ali Campbell.” UB40 stressed that there are no members of the original band in this group, and none of Ali Campbell’s band members have ever performed with UB40 or contributed to UB40’s records.
The statement refutes claims that UB40 will return for the concert and hopes to return to Uganda in the future. This development follows a historical concert held by UB40 in Uganda 15 years ago, where they attracted thousands of fans.
Despite Campbell’s departure, four out of the five surviving founding members of UB40, including Robin Campbell, Jimmy Brown, Earl Falconer, and Norman Hassan, have continued touring and releasing albums globally.
UB40 has achieved significant international success with over 50 singles on the UK Singles Chart, and they remain an iconic name in the music industry.
