The Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA) has announced the dates for the 29th Uganda International Trade Fair (UGITF): October 3-10, 2023, at the UMA showgrounds in Lugogo.
KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The 29th Uganda International Trade Fair (UGITF), organized by the Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), is scheduled to occur from October 3 to 10, 2023, at the UMA showgrounds in Lugogo.
The UMA trade fair will focus on digital transformation and innovation, aimed at enhancing manufacturing and trade efficiency. UMA anticipates an average of 300,000 visitors this year.
Deo J.B Kayemba, UMA Chairman, emphasized that the event will highlight how industrialists can harness technological advancements for value addition, inviting businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators from all sectors to participate.
“We invite businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators from every sector to join us at the UMA 29th Uganda International Trade Fair. This event is not just a platform for showcasing products; it is a celebration of resilience, creativity, and the power of innovation. Together, we will drive manufacturing and trade efficiency through digital transformation,” Mr. Kayemba said.
Dr. Ezra Muhumuza, UMA Executive Director, noted that this year’s Trade Fair aligns with the organization’s digital strategy and roadmap.
Cathy Muwumuza, Superintendent of Support Services at the STI Secretariat, recognized manufacturers’ dedication in bridging the gap from ideas to breakthroughs, which stimulate economic growth.
She emphasized the theme for this year, “Driving Manufacturing and Trade Efficiency through Digital Transformation and Innovation. Together, we envision a future with seamless trade, proficient manufacturing, and non-stop innovation!”.
TotalEnergies Marketing Uganda contributed UGX 150,000,000/= as a sponsor for the trade fair. The company’s Ag. Managing Director / Finance Manager, Omotesele. J. AKINPELU, stressed the importance of rapid digitalization for business sustainability and growth.
“it is evident across the Ugandan and world economy that for the sustainability of any business, one must embrace digitalisation and do so quickly because the speed of its evolution is unmatched.”, she said.
Uganda Insurers Association (UIA), represented by Research Officer Ms. Angella Kemigisa, highlighted their collaboration with UMA. UIA’s sponsorship aims to mitigate risks, promote innovation, and encourage insurance awareness. UIA is a Bronze Sponsor of the event.
“By collaborating with manufacturers, we seek to mitigate risks and encourage innovation. We want to encourage Ugandans to come and get sensitized about insurance” Ms. Kemigisa said.
