Kitara Football Club has confirmed the resignation of its president, Mr. Deo Kasozi, bringing to an end a three-year spell marked by rapid success and rare consistency in Ugandan football.

His departure, effective immediately, was announced on Tuesday. Mr. Kasozi leaves the club just months after guiding it to the 2024 Stanbic Uganda Cup title and a first-ever appearance in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Kitara, based in Hoima, was promoted to the top flight under his watch after winning the 2022/23 FUFA Big League. Since then, the club has quietly climbed into the top tier of Ugandan football—finishing fourth and fifth in back-to-back Uganda Premier League seasons and recording wins against established sides like KCCA FC and Vipers SC.

In his final statement, Kasozi described the last three years as “the most successful in the club’s history,” adding that Kitara had become a model for community football in Uganda.

Part of his legacy includes the development of Royal Park, the club’s home ground, and the rise of forward Denis Omedi, whose performances caught the attention of scouts beyond Uganda.
