Azawi is the most streamed local artist in Uganda according to Spotify Wrapped 2022, followed by Fik Fameica, AeHil, Winnie Nwagi, and Vinka.
KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — In the latest Spotify Wrapped 2022, the company reveals what songs, artists, albums and playlists people listened to throughout the year. In Uganda, Azawi and Fik Fameica are the most streamed local artists.
- Streaming service Spotify has announced Wrapped 2022, its yearly look at how people listened to songs, albums, and playlists throughout 2022. Azawi and Fik Fameica rank among Uganda’s most streamed local acts.
- The following chart shows what Ugandans streamed the most this year. Burna Boy has moved up two spots from last year, to be the most streamed artist in Uganda.
- Drake follows in second place while Fireboy DML follows in third place.
- David Lutalo, Radio and Weasel, Sheebah, Judith Babirye and Daddy Andre are also among the top streamed local artists with honours in Wrapped 2022.
- As for African Heat, it is the most streamed playlist in Uganda based on Spotify Wrapped 2022.
The breakdown below shows that Burna Boy has risen two spots since last year and is Uganda’s most streamed artist. Drake, last year’s top artist, is second this year, with Fireboy DML third.
The most streamed song in Uganda is Pheelz and BNXN’s Finesse. Last Last by Burna Boy, despite its name, takes the second spot. Rema’s Calm Down takes the third spot with Oxlade’s KU LO SA – A COLORS SHOW in the fourth spot.
Ugandans continue to consume local music in droves, registering a 294% year-over-year rise in 2022 compared with 2021, showing almost three times as much Ugandan music streaming as last year.
Spotify Wrapped 2022 places Azawi as the highest-streamed local artist in Uganda. Fik Fameica is second, followed by AeHil, followed by Winnie Nwagi. Vinka closes out the female-dominated top five.

Based on Spotify Wrapped data, Ugandans stream music the most on Saturday, followed by Friday. It’s no surprise that Ugandans love to party. The most popular hour of the day for Ugandans to listen to Spotify is at 12 pm, right in the middle of the day, and then at 6 pm.
In addition, Spotify Wrapped 2022 reports that African Heat is the most streamed playlist in Uganda.
