Uganda’s Minister for Health, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng, has announced that the country’s Ministry of Health is in the final stages of preparing a health insurance bill.

KAMPALA, UGANDA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — The Ugandan Minister for Health, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, has announced that the country’s Ministry of Health is in the final stages of developing a health insurance bill. The bill will soon be presented to the cabinet and then parliament for approval.

  • The new health insurance bill aims to improve access to health services for all Ugandans. According to the minister, the bill will provide affordable and quality health services to citizens, regardless of their socio-economic status.
  • The bill will also establish a regulatory framework for health insurance providers in Uganda. This framework will ensure that insurance providers meet specific standards and provide quality services to their clients.

Improved Access to Health Services

The new health insurance bill aims to improve access to health services for all Ugandans. The minister noted that the bill will provide affordable and quality health services to citizens, regardless of their socio-economic status. This move is a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to improve the health sector.

Regulating Health Insurance Providers

The bill will also create a regulatory framework for health insurance providers in the country. With the new regulatory framework, insurance providers will be required to meet specific standards and provide quality services to their clients.
