Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Former Ugandan Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi conveyed deep gratitude to his wife, Jacqueline Mbabazi, for steadfastly upholding familial unity over five decades.

This expression coincided with the celebration of their golden wedding anniversary in Kampala, where Archbishop Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu officiated a vibrant service at All Saints Cathedral.

Mbabazi, aged 75, and his wife, Jacqueline, aged 69, commemorated their enduring commitment amidst faith, resilience, and love.

”I congratulate Rt Hon @AmamaMbabazi and his dear wife, Canon Jacqueline Mbabazi on their celebration of fifty years wedding anniversary. This celebration is a clear manifestation of the exemplary Biblical and Christian marriage values that this country cherishes.”, he said.

Mbabazi emphasized gratitude for the grace guiding them through challenges, highlighting their celebration as a testament to renewed hope and love.

He encouraged couples to embrace forgiveness, striving for exemplary lives.

Their jubilee garnered a large turnout, including government officials and religious leaders like Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and Chief of Defense Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

Mbabazi and Jacqueline first encountered each other in 1969 during a drama trip to Bweranyangi with fellow Kigezi College, Butobere students.

Their connection deepened when Mbabazi, joining Makerere University in 1972, discovered Jacqueline’s familial link to Reverend Gershom Ruhindi, a relative of Hope Tugumisirize, whom Mbabazi had met in Kampala.
