Jinja, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Busoga Kingdom calls for the arrest of individuals behind fake court documents circulating on social media aiming to block the royal wedding. Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV is set to marry Jovia Mutesi on November 18. Two letters of a purported court injunction, allegedly on behalf of UK citizen Alison Anne Nadiope, went viral.
A letter from Mugerwa and Partners Advocates and Solicitors, dated November 8, claims Alison is legally married to the Kyabazinga, objecting to his wedding with Jovia Mutesi. Busoga Kingdom Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala labels the content as defamatory and false, reporting the matter to the police.
Muvawala instructs kingdom lawyers to pursue civil and criminal proceedings against those circulating the documents. The Kyabazinga denies any prior marriage or children. The Archbishop of Church of Uganda confirms not receiving a marriage certificate. Investigations have led to arrests, and legal action is imminent. The royal wedding organizing committee remains focused on the November 18 event.
