Congolese Music Sensation Tresor Inks Global Co-Publishing Deal with Sony Music

NAIROBI, KENYA | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Congolese musician Tresor, who’s based in South Africa, just inked a major deal with Sony Music Publishing that’s set to send his music soaring across the globe. Under this partnership, Tresor’s tunes will be published worldwide through Sony Music Publishing, as well as Jacquel Music Publishing, a branch of Tresor’s own Jacquel Entertainment Group.

Tresor expressed his excitement, calling this moment a significant milestone in his musical journey.

He said, “It’s an honor to have my talent recognized on a global scale and to be positioned alongside the best songwriters and composers worldwide. Thank you to the Sony Music Publishing USA team for welcoming me and embracing my vision. I’m eagerly anticipating a fruitful journey together, creating music that will resonate for generations.”

Ari Gelaw, Sony Music Publishing’s Vice President for Creative A&R, shared his enthusiasm, saying, “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Tresor into the Sony Music Publishing family. Tresor’s outstanding creativity and artistry align seamlessly with our commitment to nurturing musical excellence. We are confident that this collaboration will open up remarkable opportunities and propel him to even greater heights.”

Simone Dixon, Sony Music Publishing’s Manager for Creative A&R, also chimed in, praising Tresor’s multifaceted talent as a songwriter, producer, and artist. She highlighted his unique blend of pop, Afro-fusion, and hip-hop influences that have created a fresh and captivating sound with global appeal.

Tresor, born Mukengerwa Tresor Riziki in Goma, DRC, has been making waves in the Afropop scene since he moved to South Africa. He’s garnered awards and collaborated with top local musicians like AKA, Msaki, and Beatenberg.

Beyond his music, Tresor is involved in various projects, including the Hunter’s X Jacquel Culture House (JCH), launched in April. This platform features workshops and talent search campaigns, offering opportunities for up-and-coming artists in South Africa looking to break into the music industry.

Additionally, Tresor recently received the honor of being inducted into the Recording Academy’s class of 2022.
