Kisoro, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Gen (Rtd) Kale Kayihura, the former Inspector General of Police, revealed his decision not to pursue a career in elective politics after retiring from the army. Speaking at his homecoming event in Kisoro Municipality, where he celebrated his retirement from the army, Kayihura emphasized his intent to focus on farming and other activities in his retirement.
Putting to rest speculations about his interest in a parliamentary seat, Kayihura mentioned his apprehension towards elective politics, stating that even positions like an LC1 post make him wary. He highlighted the multitude of plans he has for retirement, particularly in the realm of farming.
Following his retirement and subsequent acquittal from criminal cases, Kayihura took the opportunity to express gratitude to those who supported him during his trial. He commended President Museveni for meticulous investigations that ultimately revealed the absence of a valid case against him.
Kayihura also underscored the importance of unity and love, recognizing the role of his family in promoting these values.
During the event, various religious leaders led ecumenical prayers, emphasizing the grace that Kayihura’s newfound freedom represents.
Prominent figures in attendance encouraged Kayihura to engage with district leaders to promote development and advocate for the fulfillment of pledges related to infrastructure and education in Kisoro District.
