Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Sources have confirmed the passing of Humphrey Mayanja, the elder sibling of the singing trio consisting of Jose Chameleone, Weasel Manizo, and Pallaso. Chameleone shared a poignant image of Humphrey on his Facebook page, accompanied only by his name and a crying emoji.
Humphrey, aged 49, was diagnosed with cancer last year after experiencing stomach complications during a trip to the US, as revealed by Douglas Mayanja, also known as Weasel, in February during an interview with local media.
“It is indeed true that Humphrey is unwell,” Weasel disclosed at the time. “He is battling cancer, a challenging ordeal for both us and the entire family, particularly our mother, who is also facing her own health struggles.”
In July of the previous year, Humphrey disclosed that during his journey to Boston, he experienced bouts of fatigue and intermittent fevers.

Sharing a photograph taken of him while receiving treatment in the ER in Boston, Humphrey recounted feeling unwell at Schiphol airport in the Netherlands during a layover, an unfamiliar sensation for him.
Following a period of rest at home, he awoke to severe abdominal distention occurring every five minutes.
“The pain was excruciating, rendering me unable to walk or consume any sustenance,” he said.
“My close companion drove me to the ER, where I underwent diagnosis and subsequent surgical intervention.”
Nasogastric intubation, a medical procedure involving the insertion of a plastic tube through the nose into the stomach, was performed as part of his treatment regimen. This procedure facilitates various treatments, including the removal of excess gastric fluids and the administration of medications or nutrient-rich fluids directly into the stomach.
Unlike his brothers, who found fame in entertainment and music, Humphrey, alongside his second-born sibling Henry Kasozi, opted out of the limelight, as did their sister Josephine. This departure from the entertainment industry, where Joseph (Chameleone), Douglas (Weasel), Pius (Pallaso), and the late Emmanuel (AK 47) achieved renown, characterized Humphrey’s role within the family. As the elder brother, he often acted as a unifying force, bringing his younger siblings together during times of discord.
