Kampala, Uganda | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Veteran sports journalist and KFM radio show host Patrick Kanyomozi recently declared his retirement from radio presenting and active journalism, marking the end of his impressive 13-year tenure at the Nation Media Group station.
In a social media announcement, Kanyomozi expressed his fulfillment in leaving the profession after accomplishing a lifelong aspiration. “I made my final appearance on 933kfm this morning as I retire from radio and active journalism. I leave a very contented man because from a very young age, all I ever wanted to do was to be a Radio Presenter,” he shared on Musk’s X.
Having commenced his radio career as a news reader during his S.6 vacation, Kanyomozi moved through Prime Radio before joining KFM around 2008. Throughout his journey, he served as the sports producer, show host, and co-host of the station’s KFM-Breakfast show alongside Brian Mulondo and Faiza Fabs.
Expressing gratitude for the support he received during his journalistic endeavors, Kanyomozi thanked those who collaborated with him, writing, “I am very grateful to everyone who gave me a hand on my radio and journalism journey. To everyone I have worked with or alongside, thank you.”
While Kanyomozi has not disclosed his future plans, rumors circulate that he might assume the role of spokesperson for the opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party, potentially succeeding Joel Ssenyonyi. However, neither Kanyomozi nor NUP has confirmed these speculations.
Kanyomozi, married to Lucky Mbabazi, has four children. The couple, who met during their time at KFM and initially began as friends, continues to contribute to the media landscape, with Lucky Mbabazi currently serving as a presenter at Capital FM Radio.
