Accra, Ghana | NOW THEN DIGITAL — Popular Ghanaian singer Kuami Eugene is recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident on Sunday night.
Local journalist Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri, who witnessed the incident, confirmed the accident occurred around 11:30 pm near Achimota in Accra. Abugri reported that Kuami Eugene’s vehicle collided with a tipper truck on the highway.
While there were no fatalities, Kuami Eugene is reported to have suffered a broken arm, cuts, and a hip injury. He was taken to the University of Ghana Medical Centre along with an unidentified male passenger.
The cause of the accident is attributed to poor visibility due to inadequate lighting on the N1 Highway and the lack of tail lights on the tipper truck.
Kuami Eugene, known for hit songs and albums like “Rockstar” and “Love and Chaos,” is reportedly in good spirits despite his injuries. His management has yet to release an official statement.
This incident adds to a growing concern about road safety in Ghana. Last September, singer Wendy Shay was involved in a similar accident involving a tipper truck, and in 2018, rising star Ebony Reigns tragically lost her life in a car crash.
