City now holds two games in hand over the Gunners, who still sit two points clear at the top of the table, but have failed to win in their last four games.

On Wednesday, Manchester City closed in on retaining their crown as English champions with a 4-1 win over league leaders Arsenal. Kevin De Bruyne scored twice in the match, putting City in a strong position to claim their fifth title in six seasons.

Kevin De Bruyne shines for City

Kevin De Bruyne played a starring role for City, scoring twice, and was the key to the team’s dominant display.

The Belgian midfielder scored the opening goal after just seven minutes, curling a shot past Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

De Bruyne later set up John Stones for City’s second goal just before half-time and scored his second and City’s third goal in the 54th minute, aided by a fantastic assist from striker Erling Haaland.

Arsenal’s defensive woes continue

Arsenal’s recent defensive struggles continued as they conceded their 10th goal in four games. Despite Ramsdale’s best efforts, he was unable to keep City at bay as the Gunners struggled to get a foothold in the game.

Even though Rob Holding scored a consolation goal late on for Arsenal, the North London side face a difficult challenge to maintain any pressure on City in the final weeks of the season.

City looks unstoppable

With a meeting against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals on the horizon, City looks to be in great shape as they pursue their third consecutive Premier League title and a treble.

Striker Haaland provided the final flourish with a goal in stoppage time, breaking the Premier League record for most goals in a 38-game season with 33 goals.
